The September 28, 1937

Eugene A. Kintz, age 31, of 1709 Twyckenham drive, former fullback on the
Central High School football squad, died in St. Joseph's hospital at 4:30 PM
Monday.  He had been ill 5 months of a heart ailment.  He was born in South
Bend April 12, 1906, and spent his life here.  He was married February 25,
1936, in the Log Chapel at Notre Dame to Margaret Kroger, of South Bend, who
survives.  He leaves also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Kintz, of the
Edwardsburg Road; four brothers, Gerald, Sylvester, Elmer and Carl, all of
South Bend, and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Norton, Erie, Pennsylvania and Mrs
May Jones, Waukegan, Illinois.  Mr. Kintz was a football captain for
Central and 1926.  He attended Columbia College at Charlotte, S. C. where he
starred in football in 1926 and 1927.  He attended Teachers' college at
Charlestown, Illinois, where he also played a football in 1928, and was
graduated in 1930 from Bowden college, Georgia.  He received his degree in
foreign commerce and for several years was associated with his father in a
carpenter's business.  The body will lie after 7 PM today in his parents
home and the funeral will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday in Sacred Heart
Church on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.  Rev. Joseph
McAllister, C. S. C. of Notre Dame, who solemnized his marriage, will sing
the mass and the sermon will be by Rev. Edward J. Finnegan, C. S. C., pastor
  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The funeral of Eugene A. Kintz, 1709 Twyckenham Drive, was held at 10 AM
today in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church, Notre Dame, Rev. Joseph
McAllister, C. S. C., of Notre Dame, sang the mass and Rev. Edward J.
Finnegan, C. S. C., pastor, gave the sermon.  Interment was in Cedar Grove
Cemetery.
