Emily V. Kinnune, 74, of Laguna
Woods, Calif., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on
Tuesday, May 28. She was born on June 20, 1927, in South Bend, to
the late Frank and Anna Varga. She graduated from
Washington High School in 1945. After graduation she attended the
South Bend College of Commerce and began working for Studebaker.
It was at Studebaker that she met her husband-to-be.
On June 25, 1949, she married Arthur J.
Kinnune in St. Paul's Methodist Church. He preceded her in death
in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna
(Frank) Hoffer of South Bend and Julia (John) Petrasovits
of Granger, Ind.; and by a brother, Frank (Lucille) Varga of
Collinsville, Ill. They were active members of Grace Methodist
Church. When Studebaker closed its doors in the mid-60s, they
relocated to Elk Grove Village in the Chicago area. They remained
in Elk Grove Village until this past February when Emily moved to
California to be near her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory two
daughters, Sandy (Chip) Stevens of Laguna Niguel, Calif.,
and Nancy (Tony) Vitzthum of St. Charles, Ill.; two
granddaughters, Lindsay and Tracy Stevens of Laguna
Niguel; a brother, Steve (Dorothy) Varga of South Bend; a sister,
Ethel (Dick) Marten of South Bend; and by numerous nieces
and nephews in the South Bend area.
A memorial service will be held in the
Chicago area later this month. Memorial contributions in her name
may be made to Companion Hospice, 730 Town & Country Road,
Orange, CA 92868.
