Mrs. Vonda Anita King, 60, of
Hollywood Place, South Bend, Ind., passed away following a brief
illness on Sunday, June 3, in the Ironwood Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Born Aug. 8th, 1940, in South Bend, Vonda
was the only daughter of eight children born to Samuel and Birdie
(D'Mar) Williams. A lifelong area resident, Vonda
was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.
On Dec. 5th, 1963, Vonda was married to
Richard L. King, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded
in death by her father, Samuel Williams. She is survived
by three daughters, Regina West and Robin King, both of
South Bend, and Tonya King of Long Beach, Calif.; her mother,
Mrs. Birdie Williams of South Bend; brothers, William H. (Judith)
Williams of Carson, Calif., Samuel (Judy) Williams, Norval
(Sareena) Williams, Gilbert (Patricia) Williams, Larry Williams,
John Williams (captain, South Bend Police) and Howard
(Mary) Buchanon (battalion chief, South Bend Fire
Department), all of South Bend; three grandchildren, Jasmyne,
Jawan and Jamal West; along with a host of other family members
and friends.
The funeral ceremony for Mrs. King will be
held at 12 noon on Monday, June 11th, in 1st A.M.E. Church, 801
N. Eddy Street, South Bend, with visitation one hour before the
funeral service.
