Sister M. Batilide CSC, 85, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born Margaret King on March 6, 1884 in County Kerry, Ireland; and came to the United States in 1905, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She received the habit in 1906 and made her profession of vows in 1908. She was a teacher for 45 years. From 1914 to 1921 she taught at Sacred Heart Academy in Fort Wayne; from 1921 to 1938 at schools in Baltimore, Alexandria, Va., and Lancaster Pa.; from 1938 to 1952 at St. Joseph’s Home and School in Washington DC; and in 1958 at St. Paul’s School in New York. In 1959 she retired and came to St. Mary’s.

 

The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the convent parlor. Funeral services will be at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s.
