Emogene I. King

Emogene I. "Jean" King, 90, a resident of South Bend, Ind., for over 44 years, died of natural causes on Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Costa Mesa, Calif. She had recently moved to California to be near her daughter and family.

 

The former Emogene Robb married J. Robert "Bob" King in 1935. Prior to her marriage she taught grade school in Illinois having received a teaching certificate from Macomb College. For many years she also taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a longtime elder of Ridgedale Presbyterian Church in South Bend, serving for several years as local recorder at the church. Mrs. King had retired from J.C. Penney in 1971 after 13 years in sales and management.

 

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, J. Robert "Bob" King in 1972; and by her parents, John W. and Minnie (Lambert) Robb. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Lester, Ben and Dean Robb. She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. King (Jon) Reynolds of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and grandchildren, Jon Jr. (Julie) Reynolds of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kristin Reynolds (Mark) Hancock of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.

 

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Ridgedale Presbyterian Church, 1406 E. Ewing Avenue, South Bend, with burial following in Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, located at Ironwood and Jefferson in South Bend.
