SOUTH BEND - Lester L. Kimball, 88, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died Sunday in the nursing home. Mr. Kimball retired in 1971 from the Benton Harbor filtration plant. He was born Dec. 20, 1906, in Benton Harbor and lived in South Bend for 10 years.

His first wife, Olive, died in 1983. In 1984, he married Alice DeVries. She survives with a son, Ronald of Benton Harbor; a stepdaughter, Elaine Mick of Mishawaka; a stepson, Charles DeVries of Minnetonka, Minn.; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Dolores Lohraff, died in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Joseph.

Services will be at 2 p.m. (Michigan time) Wednesday in Dey-Florin Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
