Catherine Elizabeth (Frawley) Kien, 82, passed away on Sunday morning, Aug. 27, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind. Catherine was born in Oil City, Pa., on April 23, 1918.

She married Francis on July 5, 1938. The family moved to South Bend in 1956. She is survived by her husband, Francis; her children, F. Michael (Ruth), Peggie (Mark), Cathy (Jim) and Vicki (Wes); grandchildren, Christopher, Christina, Daniel, Jason and Melissa; and by a great-granddaughter, Kristy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, in St. Pius X Church, 52553 Fir Road (near State Road 23), Granger, Ind., (219) 272-8462. A luncheon will follow. Burial will take place in Pennsylvania at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 850 North Meridian, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
