Sister M. Loretta Clare Kieffer CSC, 90, died early Monday afternoon in St. Mary’s Convent, following a lengthy illness. As Loretta Gertrude Kieffer, she was born on June 28, 1888 in Minpy. N.D. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on July 15, 1923, coming from Marshall, Tex. Received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1924 and made her profession of vows on Jan. 6, 1926. Most of her community career was spent as a music teacher in schools in Indiana, Idaho, Texas and Californis. She retired to St. Mary’s Convent in 1963.

 

A funeral mass will be celebrated by her cousin, Rev. Lawrence J. Kieffer of Madison, Wis. at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call today at the convent parlors where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. today.
