Irene L. Kieffer, 80, residing on Kintyre Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, in her home. Mrs. Kieffer was born on Feb. 7, 1918, in Somerset, Pa., to the late Ezra R. and Lucy Pearl (Lohr) Baer, and had lived in the South Bend community since 1940, coming from Pennsylvania.

On July 3, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., she married Daniel Jacob Kieffer, Jr. He passed away on March 15, 1976. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Mary Lowry, Ella Jean Heritz, Dorothy Baer and an infant sister. Mrs. Kieffer is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Lafferty of Valparaiso, Ind.; a son, Daniel Jacob Kieffer III of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Oglevee of Somerset; and by a brother, Ezra L. Baer of Somerset.

Services for Mrs. Kieffer will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Rev. Nick Sich of First Christian Church, Somerset, will officiate. Burial will follow at Husband Cemetery, Somerset. Friends may call locally from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Palmer Funeral Home and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday in Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home in Somerset.
