Helen M. Kern

March 23, 1903 – July 5, 1984

Helen M. Kern, 82,of 626 W. Marion St., died about 4am today in St Joseph Hospital, after a brief illness.  Born in Elgin IL on March 23, 1903, she lived here 41 years, coming from Elgin.  On February 28, 1925, as Helen Hanchett, she married Alvin Kern in Elgin.  He died in 1976.  Surviving are two sons, Richard of St Charles IL, and Peter Joseph of Mishawaka; a daughter, Mary Lou Korkhouse of South Bend; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a brother, Walter Hanchett of Elgin.

Friends may call from 2 to4 and 7 to 9pm Friday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, where services will be at 1pm Saturday.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.  Mrs. Kern was a member of Grace Bible Chapel.
