Thomas S. Kennedy

March 6, 1913 - April 6, 2001

Thomas S. Kennedy, 88, died on Friday, April 6, in the Otterbein-Portage Valley Nursing Home in Pemberville, Ohio. He was the son of Timothy and Matilda (Morrison) Kennedy of Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Tom was a high school principal before and after serving as a captain in the U. S. Army during World War II. In 1953 he opened Kennedy's Shoe Store in South Bend, Ind., which he operated for 30 years. During this time he was an active member of St. Matthew's Parish, a founding member of the St. Joseph Valley Scholarship Foundation, and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rosemary.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Kennedy, Beth (Bill) Bingle, Janet Kennedy (Jim Putney), Nancy Kennedy (Dave Bushnell), Jean (Howard) Kennedy-Hubler, and son, Tom (Lynn) Kennedy Jr. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joe and Eileen Bingle, Kate and Mackenzie Hubler.

A funeral Mass and burial service are planned for mid-May at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The family asks only for your thoughts and prayers as tribute.
