SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Scholastica Kennard, CSC, 80, of Saint Mary's Convent, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in her residence. Sister M. Scholastica was born April 3, 1913, in Caldwell, Idaho, as Virginia Marie Kennard.

 

She entered the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross on Sept. 7, 1933; was received as a novice on, Aug. 15, 1934; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1936. She was assigned to teaching in secondary schools and served in California, Indiana, and Nevada; was a teacher at Dunbarton College, Washington, D.C., from 1948 to 1951 and at Saint Mary's College from 1951 to 1957; and was in secondary administration until 1975 in Illinois and California. She is survived by a sister, Helen Dopkins of Sacramento, Calif.

 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday in the church, where a wake will be at 7 p.m.  Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
