Orphia M. Kendle

Orphia M. Kendle, 87, formerly of Creekside Apartments, Mishawaka, Ind., and Queensboro Avenue, Mishawaka, died of natural causes early Friday morning, Oct. 24, in Tanglewood Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 22, 1915, to the late Thomas and Tillie (Slye) Kipp of Mishawaka, and she married Arthur Quentin Kendle on May 22, 1935. He passed away on Nov. 26, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kipp.

She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1934, and was employed many years at Uniroyal Inc. in Mishawaka and for several years at Associates Inc. in South Bend, Ind.

Mrs. Kendle is survived by daughters, Katherine (H. Donald) Owens of Midway, Ark., Sharon Ray of South Bend, Ind., and Susan (William A.) Mumaw of St. Peter, Mo.; sons, Larry Q. (Phyllis) Kendle of Osceola, Ind., and Raymond E. (Terry) Kendle of Midway; stepsons, J. Paul (Jean) Kendle of Mishawaka and Robert F. (Kathleen) Kendle of South Bend.

She was blessed with many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, Frederick (Winifred) Kipp and Roy Kipp, both of Mishawaka.

She was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, First Church of God and presently the First Christian Church of Mishawaka. She was a member of the Women's Circle for many years and was a faithful church member all of her life. Orphia will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., with funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 2511 E. 3rd St., Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
