SOUTH BEND - Curtis D. ''Bert'' Kendall Jr., 16, of 19270 Darden Road, died about 4:17 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after being struck by lightning near the St. Joseph River. Bert was employed by McDonald's Restaurant. He was born Dec. 3, 1977, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shelley (Taylor) and Rick Ameigh of South Bend; his father and stepmother, Janice and Curtis D. of South Bend; a sister, Stephanie Kendall of South Bend; maternal grandfather, Howard Taylor of South Bend; and step-grandparents, Mary Frost of Elkhart and Frank Zavor of Warsaw. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
