Charles R. Kemble

Charles Roland Kemble, 86, of Fountainview Place Nursing Home, formerly of Cedar Trail, Mishawaka, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Charles was born on Aug. 14, 1917, in South Bend, to the late Ralph and Beatrice (Gage) Kemble. On April 20, 1940, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, he married the former Frances I. Ganser. She passed away on July 29, 2003, after 63 years of marriage. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Kemble.

Charles had been an area resident his entire life, growing up in Elkhart. He retired from Ridge Tool and Die in 1984, where he was a salesman. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Charles is survived by a daughter, Ann (Gerald) Hogan of Granger; a son, Dick (Rita) Kemble of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Daniel (Michelle) Hogan of Granger, Denise (Bob) Bower of Granger, Brian (Staci) Kemble of Doylestown, Pa., Darren (Alexandria) Kemble of Mishawaka and Clare (Ryan) Palenchar of Elkhart; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Osceola, 1109 Lincolnway West, with a rosary to be recited at 2 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in Queen of Peace Catholic church, 4508 Vistula Road, Mishawaka. Rev. Richard Hire will be officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
