Sister M. Francis Leo CSC, 90, of Saint Mary’s Convent died there at 9:15 Mnday after a lengthy illness. Born Frances Ada Kelly on Jan. 19, 1890 in Lapeer County, Mich., she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, on Sept. 8, 1922 coming from Clifford, Mich. She was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1923 and professed her final vows on Aug. 15, 1925. During her years with the community she served as a school teacher at St. Michael’s Elementary in Fairbury, Neb., and later served as mistress of scholastics at St. Mary’s until 1957 when she was appointec Superior of Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend. She returned to St. Mary’s Convent in 1963, where she remained until her death.  She is survived by a sister and two brothers.

 

Services were scheduled for today in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s.
