J. Paul Kelly

Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, Ind., for J. Paul Kelly who passed away in Tyler, Texas, of natural causes on Monday, July 24, leaving no business undone here on earth, at the age 94. Born on Oct. 25, 1905. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nellieta Rose, and two children, John Paul and Virginia.

 

Prior to retiring to Sun City, Ariz., he was a partner in Kelly-Witwer Real Estate in South Bend, Ind. He was a 1924 graduate of Central High School in that city, and also attended Notre Dame and U.C.L.A. A life long member of the Izaac Walton League, he was a conservationist, naturalist, and a sportsman. He was also one of the nation's premier authorities on specialized antiques, including rare miniature glass hats and glass insulators. By avocation, he also collected rare and exotic diamonds, sapphires, and rubies.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Pat O'Brien of Tyler, Texas, and a son, J. Bruce Kelly of Mission Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a sister, Virginia Rexstrew of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and by a sister-in-law, Martha Jewell of San Diego, Calif.
