Joel U. Kelly, 63, residing on Lake Trail, Lakeville, Ind., passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, in his home. Mr. Kelly retired in 1998 as a truck driver for the Lock Joint Tube Company, South Bend, Ind. Joe was born on April 3, 1936, in Marion County, Ala., to the late Lester and Mary (Godsey) Kelly. He had lived most of his life in Lakeville.

On Nov. 29, 1958, in Indianapolis, Ind., he married Della Sue England, who preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Lane; and by three brothers, Harold, Neal and Wilburn Kelly. Joel was an 18-year member of the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Posse, and was a past 4-H Horse and Pony Leader for Union Township.

He is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Steve) Carlson of Lakeville and Tammy (Gregg) Fletcher of Lakeville; two sons, Brian (Marcey) Kelly of Bremen, Ind., and Jason Kelly of Lakeville; six grandchildren, Justin and Nicole Carlson, Courtney and Cody Cassler, Camryn Fletcher and Carter Kelly; a sister, Bobbie Jean Grey of Indianapolis; and by two brothers, Leonard Kelly of Lakeville and Ulyss Kelly of Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Rev. Vito Rulli, pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church, Lakeville, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Porter Rae Cemetery, Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty, Ind. The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Posse will also conduct services at the cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville.
