Donald Richard Kelly

April 24, 1924 - June 30, 1999

Donald Richard Kelly, 75, of Palisade Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, following an illness. He was born on April 24, 1924, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Martin and Belvia Kelly, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Delbert and LeRoy Kelly.

 

In 1961 he married the former Frances Hoyt in Niles, Mich. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Donald Kelly, Jr., and Richard Kelly, both of South Bend, and Thomas Kelly of Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters, Shirley Stoops of South Bend, Sharon Ford and Patti Thielking, both of Mishawaka, and Debra Fabian of Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wayne Kelly of Indiana and Marvin Kelly of Michigan; and by three sisters, Thelma Spanos of South Bend, Juanita McCool of Mishawaka and Leona Belle McLevain of Temple Terrace, Fla. Mr. Kelly retired in 1986 from the Uniroyal Corporation after 44 years as a millwright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 360, Mishawaka.

 

Services for Mr. Kelly will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Officiating the services will be Rev. Ervin Mize, with burial following at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
