Pauline Kellogg

SOUTH BEND - Pauline Kellogg, 94, of South Bend, IN, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in her home from natural causes. Born April 1, 1915, in Fairfield Township, Huron county, Ohio, to the late Clinton H. and Elva R. (Palmer) Underwood. She was a 1933 graduate of Fairfield H.S., and then earned her teaching certificate from Bowling Green State University. She married Dale C. Kellogg June 24, 1939, in Fairfield Township, Ohio; she taught for two years, made her family home and raised her four children in Elyria, Ohio. Her husband, Dale preceded Pauline in death June 21, 1998 in South Bend, IN. In addition to her husband, Pauline's sister, Gertrude VanScoy; son, Duane G. Kellogg; son-in-law, Richard J. Palmer and infant granddaughter, Rebecca J. Palmer precedes her. She is survived by her daughters, Linda J. Palmer of Modesto, CA, and Diane (Ed) Cauffman of South Bend; a son, Terry (Linda) Kellogg of Raleigh, NC; her seven g grandchildren, Mark (Jenny) Kellogg, Joseph (Judith) Palmer, Lt. Col., Benjamin (Leafa) Palmer, Anqanette (Dale) Brannon, Thomas Bauer Jr., Sarah Kellogg and Jason Kellogg. Pauline is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Katherine, Jack & Jenna Palmer, Rebecca (Michael) Doane, Ryan and Arick Dashel, Danielle Sifunetes, Joseph Bauer, Summer & Mark Kellogg Jr.; and one great-great-grandson, Ethan Doane. Pauline's family will remember her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A staunch supporter of her husband's local political endeavors, and genealogical pursuits; she had a keen mind and level head. Her and her husband had traveled to most of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, England, France, Tahiti and Australia. Pauline loved reading and gardening, enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing and classes in ceramics, and oil, acrylic and watercolor painting. She was a superb cook who loved trying new recipes, even as her eyesight was failing. "She was the light of our lives, that will never grow dim." The family will be scheduling a Memorial Services, to be held, Spring of 2010 in Norwalk, Ohio. The Elkhart Cremation Service, 2100 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, IN, has been entrusted with the care of their family. The family request donations be directed to the Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.
