NEW CARLISLE - Roland K. Kelley, 85,
of Emery Road, New Carlisle, Ind., passed away at 3:15 p.m. on
Thursday, Nov. 6, in Miller's Merry Manor. Mr. Kelley was born on
July 25, 1912, in Hudson Township and was a lifelong area
resident. He was a past employee of the LaPorte County Highway
Department, a bus driver and a farmer.
On July 28, 1934, in LaPorte, Ind., he
married Margaret A. Walker, who survives. He is also
survived by a daughter, Mary MacGillivray of Ames, Iowa;
three sons, Robert Kelley of Three Rivers, Mich., Richard Kelley
of New Carlisle and James Kelley at home; seven grandchildren,
Teri Ann Voyles of LaPorte, Susan Spencer of
Wichita, Kan., Jackie Beckette of Michigan City, Michael
Kelley and Lori Kelley of New Carlisle, Kelley Loenser of
Waterloo, Iowa, and Colin MacGillivray of Ames, Iowa; four
step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three
step-great-grandchildren; and by one step-great-great-grandson.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and
Mary (McBain) Kelley; two brothers, Donald and Clyde
Kelley; a granddaughter, Debbie Kelley; and by a
great-granddaughter, Kimberly Voyles. Mr. Kelley was a member of
the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, the Wills Township Farm
Bureau and the Steam Engine Association.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m on
Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New
Carlisle. Burial will follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple
Grove United Methodist Church.
