SOUTH BEND - Marjorie Cookingham Keller, 81, of Hastings, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday in her home after an illness. Mrs. Keller was born March 31, 1913, in Kansas City, Mo., and lived in South Bend from 1920 until 1980.
On Oct. 3, 1935, in South Bend, as Marjorie Cookingham, she married George E. Keller. He died Oct. 6, 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Keller Arsenault of Voorhees, N.J.; a son, Rev. G. Kent of Hastings; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Gafill of South Bend.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Morris Park Country Club, University Club of the University of Notre Dame, Schuyler Colfax Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, Junior League, Hoosier Art Patrons and Delta Gamma Sorority; a former board member of the YWCA and Northern Indiana Historical Society, and was the first woman to serve on the board of Goodwill Industries.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour after services Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Northern Indiana Historical Society, Barry Community Hospice, Hastings, Mich., or Hastings First Presbyterian Church, Hastings.
