South Bend - Rev. Joseph Kehoe CSC, 87, died at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, Ind. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997. He was born on Aug. 29, 1910 in Patterson, N.J. to Thomas and Nora (Macague) Kehoe. He entered Holy Cross Seminary in 1924 and Moreau Seminary in 1929, both at Notre Dame. Following his perpetual religious profession in 1932 and graduation from Notre Dame in 1933. He pursued theological studies at Holy Cross College, Washington, D.C. and was ordained Priest in 1939. In 1941 he received a Master’s degree from Notre Dame and, in 1956 a Ph.D. from the Catholic University, Washington, D.C., both in economics.

 

From 1939 until 1953, he was stationed at Notre Dame where he held a number of posts; two years at Holy Cross Seminary, Prefect of Discipline, Director of Student Activities and Vice President for Student affairs. From 1956 until his retirement in 1982 he served at the University of Portland in Oregon, as Professor and as Financial Vice President. He is survived by Jeanne Kehoe, a sister-in-law, and a niece, Nancy Lennon, both of Sparta, N.J., and Charolette Kehoe, a sister-in-law, and a niece Cindy Kehoe, both of Lamberville, Mich.

 

A wake service will be hel0d at 7:30 p.m. today in Moreau Seminary, Notre Dame. Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 on Wednesday at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Community Cemetery at Notre Dame. The Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
