Services for Harold E. Keever, 34, of 138 Sadie St., who died at 8 p.m. Thursday in LaPorte when he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle along Indiana 4, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies said late Friday night that they have been unable to determine why Keever was riding his bicycle so far from South Bend. South Bend firemen said Keever routinely visited them at the central fire station, 701 W. Sample St., and told them he often rode his bicycle to visit friends in LaPorte. Mr. Keever was born, Aug. 3, 1951, in South Bend. Surviving are his parents, John and Evelyn Gerschoffer of South Bend; a maternal grandfather, Valentine Jurgonski of South Bend; and a brother, Charles B. of South Bend.
