SOUTH BEND - Lora Keen, 83, of South Bend, passed away on
Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the Ironwood Health and
Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, where the dedicated staff
cared for her during the last five years. She was born on May 9,
1924, in York, IL, to the late Claude and Goldia (Grant) Bishop.
On June 14, 1947, in New Buffalo, MI, Lora
Bishop married Eugene A. Keen, who survives. Lora is also
survived by her daughter, Debra (Edward) Mellinger of
Evanston, IL, and by three sisters, Audrey Iannelli of
Coloma, MI, Carol (John) Elder of Grand Blanc, MI, and
Mary (Richard) Fleming of Michigan City, IN. She was
preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Miller and
Rachael Dewey, and by her two brothers, Forrest Bishop and
Wilford "Duke" Harrington. She was a parishioner
of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she served on the
hospitality committee assisting in funeral luncheons.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM today, February 15, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM February 16, 2008, in Christ the King Church, with entombment to follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, PO Box 4204, South Bend, IN 46634; or to Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 S.R. 933, South Bend, IN 46637.
