Rev. Joseph P. Keena CSC, 61, of St. Mary’s College, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Medical Center after a brief illness, He was born Dec. 10, 1920 in New York City, and entered the Holy Cross Novitiate, North Dartmouth, Mass. on Aug. 15, 1942. He made his first profession of vows on Aug. 16, 1943; and graduated from the University of Notre in 1946, after completing theological studies at Holy Cross College, Washington DC; and was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 1950 in Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame. He received his masters and Ph. D. degrees from Notre Dame, and taught in the English department at Stonehill College, North Easton, Mass. from 1953 to 1978. Since 1979 he has been on the campus ministry staff at St. Mary’s College.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Loretto at St. Mary’s. There will also be services in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on Thursday, and in South Easton, Mass. on Friday. Burial will be in StoneHill Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be observed at 7 p.m.
