OSCEOLA - Lester "Les" Kamp, 77, of Osceola, died at
7:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in his home of natural
causes. He was born August 6, 1932 in Akron, IN, to the late
Walter and Iola (Wright) Kamp. He was also preceded in death by a
son, Larry Kamp on August 14, 2003; and by a brother, Rex Kamp.
Lester was a retired truck driver for Farm Bureau, then Armour
& Co., South Bend for 27 years and finally Redi-Froz in South
Bend. He was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church. Les was
a work-a-holic, who loved his family dearly; often organizing
family gatherings. He enjoyed camping, traveling and farming. On
Jan. 27, 1952 in Rochester, IN, he married Carolyn Yike who
survives. Also surviving are daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Tucker of
Elkhart and Laura Lake of Rockford, MI; brothers, Wendel Dale
Kamp of Harlinger, TX and Wayne (Isabelle) Kamp of Akron, IN;
sister, Frances Rousseau of California; grandchildren, Tammy Lake
and Paul Lester Tucker; and a great-grandson, Weslee Charles
Lake. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday,
February 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Osceola United Methodist
Church, 431 N. Beech Road, Osceola, IN with Pastor Robert Vale of
the church officiating. Immediately following the memorial
service friends and family are invited to a luncheon at the
church. Burial will be held privately in the Olive West Cemetery,
Wakarusa, IN. Les was a recipient of a Kidney transplant 20 years
ago, and family, in lieu of flowers, would like contributions to
be made to the Indiana University Transplant Unit, 550 N.
University Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman
Funeral Home & Crematory, Elkhart is assisting the family
with arrangements.
