SOUTH BEND James Jimmy
Kambol, 92, of 1121 E. LaSalle Avenue, died at 3 p.m.
Saturday in Meridan Nursing Center-Cardinal. He retired as owner
of Kambols Fruit and Vegetable Store on North Hill Street
after 37 years, which is now Kambols Floral and Garden
Center. He was born April 13, 1898, in Siderno Marina, Reggio
Calabria, Italy as Cosimo Sgambellari, and lived in South
Bend since 1930, coming from Bronson, Mich.
On June 14, 1931, in South Bend, he married
Julia M. Rodino. She died Nov. 18, 1974. A daughter, Marie K.
Kambol, died Dec. 3, 1946. Survivors include a daughter, Mary S.
Kambol of South Bend; a son Joseph of South Bend; and three
grandsons. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St.
Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday in the Hickey Funeral Home.
