SOUTH BEND - Tressie June Jurgonski,
71, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2007, in
Hospice House. Tressie was born in South Bend on April 13, 1936,
to the late Leo and Tressie (Hofmeister) True. Also
preceding her in death were sister, Lavonne Terry;
grandson, Christopher; and great-granddaughter, Haley. On April
30, 1955, she married Leonard "Lenny" Jurgonski. They
shared 52 years together as man and wife. Surviving are her
husband, Leonard; daughters, Diane Breun of South Bend,
Cynthia (Gary) Hansen of South Bend, Peggy (Wendell) Lowry
of Hamlet, IN, Nancy (Ralph) Young of New Carlisle and
Judy O'Dell of South Bend; sons, Leonard M. of South Bend
and Eric (Moriah) of Mishawaka; 25 grandchildren, Shad, Jessica,
Courtney, Meghan, Adam, Angela, Amy, Andrew, Jennifer, Jillian,
Leonard Michael Jr., Crystal, Monica, Jeffrey, Stephanie,
Jacqueline, Aaron, Kimberly, Christina, Cassandra, Kyle, Jocelyn,
Ambrosia, Brieanna, and Thor; 21 great-grandchildren, Kennady,
Abagayle, Randi, Tyler, Bryce, Kayla, Selena, Adam Jr., Jaime,
Isaac, Andres, Jacob, Nicholas, Tyler, Trevor, Austin, Sean,
Jacob, Dominick, Lucas and Grace; sisters, May Mendenhall
of South Bend, Lois (Bud) Taylor of South Bend, Cleo Cross
of South Bend, Sherrilyn (Ted) Stone of Mishawaka, Laverne
Johnson of Flat Rock, AL, and Patricia (Larry) Overton
of Eau Claire, MI; and brother, Forrest "Bud"
(Madeline) True of Virginia.
While a homemaker, Tressie and Len began a
printing business, Perfection Printing, which expanded into the
bridal shop known as Weddings by Perfection Printing. This was
her passion, along with her children and grandchildren. She was a
volleyball coach for St. Casimir, St. Adalbert, Navarre, Dickson
and Washington High Schools for over 30 years. She enjoyed
coaching and teaching tremendously.
Tressie was a graduate of Washington High
School, where she and her friends were part of the DeRene Club,
which still meets monthly after 50 years.
Visitation and viewing will take place on
Tuesday, November 13, 2007, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in St Joseph
Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary
will be prayed at 5 p.m. There will be a procession leaving the
funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Funeral services will
take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, in United
Pentecostal Church on Ironwood at the Bypass. Burial will follow
in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South
Bend, IN 46637.
