Stanley E. “Bill” Jurgonski, 79, of Wheatfield Court, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness on Monday, March 20, in his home. Mr. Jurgonski was born on Dec. 8, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Leon Jurgonski and Anastasia Sikorski. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Stella Skarupinski; and by a brother, Frank Jurgonski. He retired on Jan. 1, 1986, from Kuert Concrete. On July 13, 1946, in South Bend, he married the former Henrietta Rajski, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Nancy (Michael) Bajdek of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Michael (Eileen) Jurgonski of South Bend; five grandchildren, Brent and Monica Bajdek, and Andrew, Staci and Rachel Jurgonski; a sister, Gertrude Reiter of South Bend; and by two brothers, Richard and Daniel Jurgonski, both of South Bend. Mr. Jurgonski was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Teamsters Retiree’s Local #364, The Breezer’s Club, and was a World War II Army veteran where he received a Purple Heart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, March 22, in the KANIEWSKI Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
