SOUTH BEND - Leonard D. Jurgonski, 74, passed away on
Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at 10 p.m. in his residence after a
five-year battle with lymphoma. Leonard was born January 2, 1934,
to the late Valentine and Marie (Krawczyk) Jurgonski. On
April 30, 1954, he married Tressie J. True, who preceded
him in death on November 11, 2007. He was also preceded in death
by two sisters and a brother. Survivors include daughter, Diane Breun
of South Bend, Cynthia (Gary) Hansen of South Bend, Peggy
(Wendell) Lowry of Hamlet, IN, Nancy (Ralph) Young
of New Carlisle and Judy O'Dell of South Bend; sons,
Leonard M. of South Bend and Eric (Moriah) of Mishawaka; 25
grandchildren, Shad, Jessica, Courtney, Meghan, Adam, Angela,
Amy, Andrew, Jennifer, Jillian, Leonard Michael Jr., Crystal,
Monica, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Aaron, Kimberly,
Christina, Cassandra, Kyle, Jocelynn, Ambrosia, Brieanna and
Thor; 25 great-grandchildren, Kennady, Abagayle, Randi, Tyler,
Bryce, Kayla, Selena, Adam Jr., Jaime, Isaac, Andrews, Jacob,
Nicholas, Tyler, Trevor, Austin, Sean, Jacob, Dominick, Lucas,
Grace, Alexander, Isaac, Trevor and Hannah; and by a sister,
Evelyn of South Bend. He retired from Uniroyal in 1995 after 36
years. Len and his late wife, Tressie, began a printing business,
Perfection Printing, which expanded into the bridal shop known as
Weddings by Perfection Printing. He was a member of St. Casimir
Married Men's Club, St. Casmir Parish, Jokers Club, the
Washington High School Athletic Hall of Fame, PNA Nest #83, and
the St. Joseph Young Men's Club. Lenny coached Little League at
Romy-Hammes and Chet Wagoner Little League ball parks, football
and softball at St. Adalbert, and basketball at St. Casimir. He
was very involved with the community, coaching for close to 40
years.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 4th, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, South Bend, where a combined parish and Married Men's Club
Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 5th, at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir
Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South
Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
