Henrietta M. Jurek, 87, of the Saint Joseph Care Center, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the nursing facility. She was born July 13, 1914, in South Bend, Ind., and was the daughter of Joseph and Tillie (Pietrowski) Kurdys. Mrs. Jurek retired in 1984 from the University of Notre Dame after 15 years of service.

On June 29, 1940, in South Bend, as Henrietta Kurdys, she married Chester Jurek, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1961. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Jurek is survived by a daughter, Pat (Mike) Strychalski of South Bend; a son, Robert (Sandra) Jurek of Wake Forrest, N.C.; four grandchildren, Andrea and Sarah Jurek of Wake Forrest, and Jamie and Jason Strychalski of South Bend; and by a sister, Tillie Sabaj of South Bend.

Mrs. Jurek was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the St. Adalbert Catholic Church Rosary Society. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 12, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
