SOUTH BEND - Thomas M. Julow, residing in South Bend, passed away
at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in Memorial Hospital. He
was 82 years old. He was born September 21, 1927 in Kokomo, IN,
the son of J. Franklin & Jeannette (Ton) Julow, and had lived
in South Bend since 1951, coming from Kokomo. On June 8, 1952 in
Gary, IN, he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Detlefs. He is
survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara. Also surviving
are his three sons, James (Joni) Julow of Bonita Springs, FL,
Jeffery (Kelly) Julow of Hendersonville, TN, and Jay (Deborah)
Julow of Novi, MI. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, John
Thomas Julow, Joshua Robert Julow, Jaclyn Colleen Julow, Jordan
Ross Julow, Jackson Thomas Julow, Anna Katherine Julow, and
Raymond Andrew Julow. In addition, Tom is survived by two
sisters, Gertrude Goldsmith of Bend, OR and Betty Suddarth of
West Lafayette, IN. Mr. Julow retired as an Engineer with the
Bendix Corp. following 30 years of service. He was a member of
the Bendix Management Club. He graduated from Purdue
University with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, was an Eagle Scout, and a member of Grace
United Methodist Church in South Bend. Private services will be
Saturday in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka
Ave., South Bend. Rev. Lauren Hall, associate pastor of Grace
United Methodist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the
family asks that memorials may be offered to the Church of the
