MISHAWAKA - Robert E. Jones, 51, of Studebaker Street, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital. Charles Hurley, deputy coroner, is waiting for results of laboratory tests before he issues a cause of death. Traffic investigators are looking for information about a car-pedestrian accident that might have occurred sometime last month on North Byrkit Avenue north of East Jefferson Boulevard. Police believe Mr. Jones might have suffered injuries in that accident, and those injuries might have been a factor in his death. Mr. Jones was a mechanic. He was born March 10, 1942, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda and Gina, both of Mishawaka; a son, Keith of Mishawaka; several grandchildren; his parents, Helen and Charles W. Jones of Mishawaka; three sisters, Susan Griffin of Frisco, Texas, and Nancy Fall and Patricia Gutierrez, both of Mishawaka; and a brother, Marc of South Bend.

Graveside services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
