MISHAWAKA - Dorothy E. Jones, 72, died at 10:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 30, at her home after an illness. Dorothy was
born October 16, 1936 on the family farm in Waltz, Michigan to
the late Elwin and Lorretto (Hughes) Green. Also
preceding her in death were three sisters and three brothers. On
August 4, 1957 in Grosse Ile, MI Dorothy married James P. Jones.
James died in August, 1984. Surviving her are one daughter,
Kathleen Jones of Mishawaka; three sons; Michael (Mary) Jones of
Mishawaka, David Jones of Granger and Robert Jones of Sarasota,
FL; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters;
Gladys Bordt, Marian Krause, Cecil (Harold) Harris,
Frances (Melvin) Reeck, Laura (Elbert) Davis, Helen
Koszykowski and Mildred (Gordon) Miles all of
Michigan; and a brother, Raymond Green also of Michigan. Dorothy
lived in Sarasota, Florida for 25 years. Prior to living in
Florida, Dorothy lived in South Bend. While in Florida, she was
the manager of the Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota, retiring
in 2003. In her capacity as manager, she was instrumental in
organizing many trips, cruises and parties for the Friendship
Center. She also enjoyed tap dancing and writing poetry. Dorothy
was also a graduate of Indiana University at South Bend.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3 from 2 to 5 at the Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th St. Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Zerkel of East United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care 111 Sunnybrook Ct. South Bend, IN 46617.
