NORTH LIBERTY - Mary L. Johnson, 82, of North Liberty,
passed away at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 in Memorial Hospital,
South Bend, after an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was born on
Feb. 20,1926, in South Bend and resided in the Michiana area her
lifetime. On December 8, 1944, in Mishawaka, IN, as Mary L. Silvers,
she married Daniel N. Johnson who preceded her in death on
February 9, 2004. Mary is survived by two daughters, Janet K.
(Steven) Yeary of Brooklet, GA and Marie L. (William) Manczunski
of South Bend; A sister, Shirley Lynas of South Bend; also
four grandchildren, James M. Pinkerton of South Bend, Lisa
(Jim) Caldwell of Bowling Green, KY, Amie M. (Todd) Colt
of South Bend and Michael P. (Jessica) Vardaman of South
Bend; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary Caldwell, Juli, Katie
and Kayla Colt, all of whom Mary loved and cherished. Mrs.
Johnson was preceded in death by her loving husband; and a
sister, Doris Hilcox. Mary was a homemaker who loved and
cherished her family as they did her. She will be sadly missed by
her family and all who had the opportunity to know this wonderful
lady. She loved cooking and baking for her family. She was a
member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Mishawaka, for
several years before they closed in 2004. She then began to
worship at Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church. Mary served
the Lord well and was a true Christian. While in the hospital
prior to her passing, she told her family that she wanted to go
home and check on her cat, "Oliver" whom she loved
dearly. She was Past President of the Greene Township. PTA
Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road/ Indiana 23 South Bend.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at
Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church. Friends may call in the
church one hour prior to service time. Pastor Jan Dimick will
officiate and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to
the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook
Ct. South Bend, IN. 46637 or to the American Red Cross. The
HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home
handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and
heartfelt prayers to the family of Mary Johnson.
