Loretta M. Johnson, 68, of 100 Center High Rise, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 12:50 a.m. Monday, July 1, in the Saint Joseph Community Hospital. Loretta was born in South Bend, Ind., on Jan. 30, 1934, and was a lifelong area resident. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lorain Johnson; one son, James E. Silvers; one brother, James Johnson; one sister, Lucille Demien; and by one great-grandson, Robert Jordan Sutton.
She was formerly employed at the AIDS Counseling Center as a receptionist, and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She is survived by five daughters, Donna Silvers of South Bend, Judith (Rick) Sutton of Mishawaka, Catherine (John) Gendi of Princeton, Wis., Deborah (Jim) Sardi of Osceola, Ind., and Loretta Kelly of Elkhart, Ind.; three sons, Steve (Nancy) Silvers of South Bend, Don (Anna) Silvers of Osceola and Eugene J. (Liz) Silvers of Woodstock, Ill.; 27 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one step-granddaughter, Brittany Sari; and by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
