Genevieve Johnson, 78, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in St. Joseph Medical Center. Mrs. Johnson was born on Dec. 3, 1917, in St. Joseph, Mich., and lived in South Bend since 1942.

On April 2, 1945, in St. Joseph, she married Donald D. Johnson, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1992. She is survived by three children, Carol Johnson of South Bend, James Johnson of Midlothian, Ill., and Dean Johnson of Rockton, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Ickes of St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 3025 E. Edison, South Bend, with entombment at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the church at which she was a longtime member.
