Christina Johnson

Christina Johnson, 78, of South Bend,
Ind. was called to rest at 11:47 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2000
in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Christina
was born in Donald-sonville, La. on November 25, 1921. She came
to South Bend in Oct. 1960. She was born to the union of the late
Eliza and Gus Johnson, Sr. Christina retired from St. Joseph
Hospital in 1989.
She was united in marriage to James Williams,
who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1982. Christina Johnson is
survived by two daughters, Elouise (Clifford) Bingham and
Dianne (Alfred) Perkins; two sons, Edward (Jackie) Johnson
and Larry Johnson, of South Bend; five sisters, Albertha Jacob,
Priscilla Johnson, Carrie (Earl) Walker, and Carolyn Diggs,
all of Donaldsonville, and Cecila Byrd of Detroit, Mich.;
one brother, Sidney (Jessie) Johnson, also of Donaldsonville;
special nieces, Eliza Haynes and Toni Hooper, both
of South Bend; and by eleven grandchildren and seventeen great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters,
Elizabeth Craig and Ann Joseph; four brothers, Gus
Johnson, Jr., Robert Johnson, Victor Johnson, and Roy Johnson;
and by her parents.
Christina was a faithful member of Grace
A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board and the
Service Guild.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on
Monday, June 19, at Grace A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation will
begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will be held in Highland Cemetery,
South Bend. Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home is entrusted with services.
