SOUTH BEND - Brian M. Johnson II, 16, passed away at 2
a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, in his residence. Brian was
born on October 9, 1991, in South Bend. He is survived by his
father, Brian M. Johnson I; brother, Sean R. Johnson; and by his
grandmother, Gloria Johnson. He was preceded in death by his
grandfather, Stephen E. Johnson on July 12, 2006; and by his
sister, Michelle Johnson on October 5, 1992.
Brian was a sophomore at Washington High
School. He loved playing Nintendo and played in tournaments at
the library. Brian battled cancer five times before losing the
battle to the disease. He always said he was in God's hands
before any of the surgeries he had faced. Brian had many friends,
one of whom was his girlfriend, Rebecca "Becca" Brabham.
Summer was enjoyable for him, spending time at Camp
"Watcha-Wanna-Do" which is for children faced with
cancer. No matter how Brian was feeling, he enjoyed shopping,
which was made possible by the generosity of gifts and support
given by the Oncology and Hematology Clinic B Department at
Memorial Hospital. A special sincere "Thank You"
to the University of Notre Dame football and baseball teams for
many fundraisers and the acts of kindness bestowed on Brian and
to those kind-hearted people who participated in the fundraisers
there and at Holy Family School, as well as Washington High
School.
The family has requested, in lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald
House of Indiana, 435 Limestone St., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 29, from 2 to 8 p.m. in
ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where
a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family
Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South
Bend.
