Arthur Lee Johnson, 76, was born in
Carmella, Ga., on Feb. 6, 1927, to Arthur Lee Johnson and Buelah
Mae (Walton) Johnson. He was a dear father, grandfather, brother,
brother-in-law, uncle, son and friend who resided on North
Fremont Street, South Bend, Ind. Arthur passed away after a very
short illness at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in Memorial
Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his devoted
wife, Christine (Ivory) Johnson; his father, Arthur Lee Johnson
Sr.; a sister, Pauline Johnson; and by two daughters, Patricia
Burks and Cynthia Johnson.
Arthur is survived by his mother, Buelah Mae
of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Mamie Joseph of Sacramento, Calif.;
his daughter, Stella Ivory of Milwaukee, Wis.; and by two sons,
Eugene (Tracey) Johnson and Steve (Rona) Johnson, both of South
Bend. Also mourning the loss of Arthur are his 12 grandchildren,
Shanika, Eugene, Chevelle, Samantha, Asia, Steven, Brittney,
Jasmine, Jonathan, Jocelyn, Annele and Juwan; his
brothers-in-law, John Ivory of South Bend, Roosevelt Wardlow of
Chicago, Ill., Fred Riley of Richmond, Ky., and Dale Burton of
Kalamazoo, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Earlene Wardlow of Chicago,
Kathryn Ivory, Willa Ivory, Doris (George) Wright, all of South
Bend; his best friends, Al Crothers and "Weesel"; his
special son, Kenneth Freeman; along with a host of nieces,
nephews and friends whom he loved.
Arthur proudly served our country in the
United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He
retired from Dodge Manufacturing in 1988 and Fastec Industries in
December 2002 at the age of 75.
Services for Mr. Arthur Lee Johnson will be
held on Wednesday, March 5, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home,
1032 W. Washington St., South Bend. Visitation will begin at 9
a.m. Funeral service begins at 11 a.m. Burial will follow funeral
service at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has
been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
