Robert Joachim Jr., 31, of Spearmint Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:35 a.m. Monday, April 22, in Hospice House, South Bend, after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born July 20, 1970, in South Bend, to Robert Joachim Sr. and Janice (Stoffelen), who survive. He is also survived by three sisters, Pat (Harry) Chabera of South Bend, Brenda (John) Gaffigan of South Bend and Tracie (Keith) Nowicki of Mishawaka, Ind.; his girlfriend, Jennifer Klocek of South Bend; six nephews, Tony Chabera, Jeff Chabera, John Gaffigan, Austin Nowicki, Nathan Nowicki and Matthew Nowicki; one niece, Ashley Nowicki; and by grandmother, Irma Stoffelen of South Bend, and grandmother, Elsie Joachim of South Bend. Robert was preceded in death by two grandfathers.
Robert worked for Hydro Wells Aluminum in North Liberty, Ind., for six years, and was a member of the Associate Bowlers Country Club Association. Robert was also an avid snowmobiler, golfer, and NASCAR racing fan. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1989. He never hesitated lending a hand to family and friends when they needed help. Robert adored his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
