MUNCIE - William A. Jennings, 74, died Nov. 21, 2004.
He was born Dec. 17, 1929, in Mishawaka, the son of James M. and
Myrtle A. (Whitfield) Jennings.
He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1947; then served in
the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In 1956, he graduated from Ball State Teachers College; taught at
Madison Heights High School in Anderson for 17 years; as a
substitute teacher for Muncie Community Schools; and taught adult
education for the banking industry.
He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, president of his
Sunday School class and led the drama ministry. He loved the
theater, and served as president, treasurer and box office
manager of the Muncie Civic Theater. He directed or appeared in
plays, and led the children?s theater program. His other
interests were oil painting ceramics and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Dorles (Babcock) Jennings;
son, Brian (wife, Donna) Jennings, Cicero; daughters, Carol
(husband, John) Richard, Muncie, Beth (husband, Brian) Welch,
Brownsburg, Laura (husband, Bill) Kepler, Golden, Colo.,
and LeeAnn (husband, Kermit) Carpenter, Woodstock, Ga.; 10
grandchildren, Kyle, Eric and Derek Richard, Emily, Jeremy and
Zachary Welch, Mariah and Jacob Kepler and Christian and Shelby
Carpenter; sisters, Lucille Scheibelhut and Ernestine Parmalee;
brother, Gilbert Jennings; and niece, Sandy (husband) Don) DeLee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Damon
Jennings.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hazelwood Christian
Church, officiated by Dr. David Cartwright. Burial will be at
Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meeks Mortuary and
Crematory, 415 E. Washington St., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
at the church.
