SOUTH BEND - Chester J. Jaworski, 92, from South Bend, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, in Arborwood Assisted Living, Granger, IN.
Chester was born on June 15, 1916, in South Bend, to the late Peter and Bertha (Nowacki) Jaworski. On October 9, 1937, Chester married the former Clara Kish at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne, IN. Chester and Clara shared 71 years of love and devotion to each other. Surviving Chester are his wife, Clara, and their daughter, Carolyn (John) Reed of South Bend. Chester was a loving and caring grandfather to two grandsons, Jeff Reed of Bridgman, MI, and his fiancée, Sherrie Wheeler, and her children, Brooke and Nick, Ron Reed and his fiancée, Linda Yager of Indianapolis, Indiana. Also surviving Chester are his brother, Bernard (Vergie) Jaworski Sr. of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and a sister-in-law, Joann Jaworski of South Bend. Two brothers, Albert and Leonard Jaworski, and one sister, Lucille Pauwels, preceded Chester in death.
Chester was formerly employed for 10 years at the Studebaker Corporation. He then went to work at Bendix Corporation, retiring after 20 years of service. He also worked at South Bend Hardware after retiring from Bendix and served his country in the Army during WWII. Chester was a member of the Bendix Senior Management Club. Chester enjoyed camping with his family. He was a former charter member of the Campers Association of Indiana and The Coast to Coast Campers Association. He was also a former member of The Knights of Columbus #1878. Chester and Clara were also parishioners of Little Flower Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 27th, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Neil Ryan, C.S.C., officiating will be held at 11:00 a.m. with one hour visitation prior on Tuesday, April 28th, in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN. Burial is to follow the service at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
