SOUTH BEND - Gary M. Jaronik, 52, of South Bend, IN, passed away
at 3:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in the Ironwood Health &
Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 23, 1955, to the late
Chester C. and Julia I. (Szilagyi) in South Bend, IN, and was a
lifelong resident. Along with his parents, a nephew, Tom Kovacs,
also preceded him in death. Gary graduated from Marian High
School and the University of Wisconsin, where he received a
master's degree in psychology and education. Mr. Jaronik worked
as a counselor for 18 years at Safe Station Youth Service Bureau
in South Bend, IN. Prior to that, he was the principal at St.
Jude Catholic School in South Bend. He is survived by his sister,
Nancy (husband Steve) Kovacs of South Bend, IN; two nephews,
Christopher (wife Jodi) McKee of Queens, NY; and Jeremy McKee of
Denver, CO. Mr. Jaronik dedicated his entire life to helping
children and making sure that they received a fair chance in life
and had an opportunity to receive an education. Cremation will
take place. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday,
Jan. 25, 2008, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend, IN, with Rev. Michael Mathews, C.S.C.,
officiating. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to
services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made
