Sister Mary Gretchen CSC, died this morning in St. Mary’s Convent. She was born as Stanislave Janowiak in 1876 in Poland, After moving to South Bend she entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1897, receiving the habit the same year and making her profession of vows in 1902. She was assigned for many years at Holy Rosary Academy in Woodland, Calif. and she also served in Plymouth and Fort Wayne. Prior to he retirement in 1957 she had spent the previous 30 years at St. Mary’s College.

Services will be at 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday in the convent parlors.
