January 11, 1918 – November 15, 1996

Marie A. Janowiak, 78, of South Bend IN, passed away at 6:20am Friday, November 15, in Regency Place.

Mrs. Janowiak was born on January 11, 1918, in Kalamazoo MI. In August of 1939, in South Bend, as Marie A. Czuk, she married Frederick J. Janowiak, who preceded her in death in September 1976.

She is survived by five sons, Dennis, Tom and Larry, all of South Bend, William of Arlington Heights IL, and John of Addison IL; eight grandchildren, Brenda Krathwohl, Daryl, Erin, Nancy, Michael, John Nicholas, Mark and Kyle Janowiak; tow great grandchildren, Brandon and Morgan Krathwohl; two sisters, Gertrude Prikosovich and Bernice Ganns, both of South Bend; an a brother John Czuk, Sr., of South Bend.

A son, David A. Janowiak, preceded her in death on August 30, 1996.

Mrs. Janowiak retired as a clerk from the St Joseph County Welfare Department. She was a member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church, Confraternity of the Holy Rosary and Harvest House of the church. She was the president of the polish Women’s Alliance Group 305.

Friends may call from 2 to 8pm Sunday, November 17, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a combined parish, Harvest House and Women’s Polish Alliance rosary will be recited at 4pm.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, November 18, in St Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.
