Beryl Jankowski

June 5, 1924 - Jan. 2, 2002

Mrs. Beryl Jankowski passed away January 2, 2002, after a brief illness. She had returned to South Bend to be with family. Beryl was born June 5, 1924, in England. Beryl participated in the Land Army during World War II in England. She was a GI war bride moving to the Mishawaka/South Bend area following the war. Beryl raised four children and married Zygmund Jankowski in 1959. They moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts in the 70's to open an art gallery at Rocky Neck. She remained in Rocky Neck opening her own shop "Beryl's Attic" for the last four years.

 

Beryl's sister, Olive Tarkington of Capitola, California and Brother, Ted Wood of South Bend survive as well as her children, James Lingar of South Bend, John Lingar of Oakland, California, Brenda Ornat of South Bend and Peter Lingar of Allston, Massachusetts. Beryl thoroughly enjoyed her four granddaughters, Kim Sult, Kelly Ornat, Leslie Lakin and Katie Ornat and three great-grandchildren, Jarod and Eli Lakin, and Elizabeth Ornat.

 

Bubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 5, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1021 Manchester Drive, South Bend. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Hospice of St. Joseph County.
