SOUTH BEND - Alfred L. Janczak, 95,
passed away at 5:16 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2008, in the
Sanctuary at St. Joseph. Alfred was born on July 31, 1913, in
South Bend to Stanley and Veronica (Guzicki) Janczak. On
April 29, 1913, Alfred married Margaret (Pethe) and she
passed away on September 14, 2004. Also preceding him in death
was a sister, Molly Janowski; and two brothers, John and
Louis Janczak. Alfred is survived by three daughters, Arlene
(Robert) Voorde of South Bend, Jo Ann Moore of
Mishawaka, and Mary Jane (Jim) Treadway of Elkhart; seven
grandchildren, Thomas Sinkiewicz, Mark Sinkiewicz, Jill Swoape,
Bill Moore, Jamie Moore, Jason Treadway and Nick Treadway; 16
great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; and a sister,
Genevieve Lemanski. Alfred retired as a shipping clerk from
Torrington. He was a parishioner at St. Casimir Catholic Church,
a member of Z.B. Falcons Nest 80, Z. B. Falcons Conservation Club
and U.A.W. Local #5, a fisherman and an avid Notre Dame and
Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed "his music" and dancing.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
on Monday, November 10, 2008, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.
Mayflower Road. A Funeral Liturgy will begin at 12 p.m. on
Monday, November 10, 2008, in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
