SOUTH BEND - Louis Nicholas Jakab, Jr., 63, residing
passed away peacefully at Noon Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at
Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He was
born August 20, 1945 in Germany, the son of Louis N. & Rose (Eros)
Jakab, and has lived most of his life in South Bend. On November
25, 1978 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Carolyn J. Florkowski
Bonek. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, along with
three daughters, Eva (Justin) Kinzie of South Bend,
Cynthia D. (Dan) Kizer of Lakeville, Candice M. (Brian) Rassi
of South Bend, four sons, Louis N. Jakab, III, of South Bend,
Raymond G. (Patty) Bonek and Rick A. (Chrissy) Bonek, of Granger,
and Roy S. Bonek of Leesburg, FL. Also surviving Louie are
twenty-three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his
sister, Julie (Steve) Weiger of South Bend. Mr. Jakab
served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired in
2001 from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Electronic
Technician at the South Bend Regional Airport, following
thirty-five years of service. He was a member of American Legion
Post #357.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where military rites will follow. Contributions in memory of Louis N. Jakab, Jr., may be offered to the American Diabetes Association,
